We decided that Dr. M's Wonderful Wiki was the link that followed TPACK the best. This teacher created a WikiSpace and had her students research different topics to create a VoiceThread video on it. The students worked in pairs to research their topic, create the narration and video, and post it to the Wiki. These strategies fit the pedadgogy on high school students because they are involved in hands on learning that is project based and uses technology. The content standard is also met because the students are studying the content to create the VoiceThreads. The teacher also seems very knowledgeable in her area of student. Technology was obviously used by the students creating the VoiceThreads, posting them to the WikiSpace, and the research they completed.

    my learners.
Finally, the TPACK frame work will be used to help incorporate technology into my instruction of this topic. Technology goes well with the pedagogy factors I face in my classroom because it allows students to explore and love by interacting with the content. Creating VoiceThreads, using my WikiSpace, and allowing my students to create videos and other types of multimedia will help them learn in different ways and keep them wanting to be involved in their learning. Technology is the missing link that ties the pedagogy and technology strand together.

    Reflection
I found the article to be very interesting because it divided web tools into different categories based on their uses in the classroom. I also liked being able to see the different tools that teachers are using within the different categories. There were several resources listed that I use every day in my room and several that I had never heard of.
Finding ways to use technology in my classroom has been a little challenging since I teach first grade and only have four computers in my classroom. Most of the Web tools I use are for behavior management, which the article stated as being a use for Web tools 2.0. I use ClassDojo daily to help manage behavior and reward students. I am able to project our Dojo page on the Smart Board and give students points based on their behavior. I also have the app on my phone and can give points in the hallway. Another tool I use is an app called Remind 101 to send mass text messages to the parents in my classroom about important events in our class.
Another Web 2.0 tool that was mentioned in the article that I use often in my classroom is BrainPop, YouTube, Starfall, and VoiceThread to support teaching and learning. I have not used social media in my classroom because I am not sure how to use it with my first grade students. I do think it would be neat to try using Club Penguin with my students, but I am not sure how to convince my principal that it is a good idea!

I know the digital native is real because I am a part of it. The article, The ‘digital natives’ debate: A critical review of the evidence states that people born between 1980 and 1994 are the “digital native” generation because of their immersion in technology. I grew up in world where I had a computer hooked up to AOL dial-up in my bedroom by the age of seven. I had a PlayStation, Gameboy, iPod that I taught myself and my parents how to use. I now have a laptop, iPad, and iPhone that I use daily. This makes me different than my parents because I grew up with the technology. It also makes me different than my students who were born in 2008 and 2007 because they have been immersed in much more technology than I had been.
It is important to remember these differences when I plan my virtual classroom. I think the biggest thing we need to remember is that our students use technology daily. They are not afraid to interact and work with iPads, unlike many teachers and adults. Our students are ready to dive right in and we need to get over the fear of letting them do it. I will make sure I meet the needs of the students and their parents by setting very clear directions and expectations when they use technology.
I want to make sure the virtual classroom is easy to use, so that students’ parents and grandparents can navigate the webpages, but also leave room for students to explore. I want my students to be engaged with the material, but they must be taught to not abuse it. It is very easy for students to use technology the wrong way and it is my job to make sure they are using it the correct way. I will use my iPad and iPhone to allow students to create their own videos and stories using 30 Hands, Sock Puppets, iMovie, and Tellagami to go along with our content during our center time. These videos will then be posted on the WikiSpace for them and their parents to view.

This is the formative assessment I created for my "Making 10 to Add" lesson. I used a three question multiple choice assessment because my students are in first grade and will need their parents to help them with it. It can be finished very quickly and parents will be able to write me comments and explain if their students understood the content. This will also be used as a way for me to see who watched the video and who did not. All of the students in my class have various abilities on the computer and this is an easy way for all students to be able to complete the assessments because it is simple and should be easy for them and their parents to complete. The main point of the lesson is for students to show their parents what we are learning, so that they are able to help them with their homework using the strategy we have learned.
