Sir Ken Robinson: Creativity

The Sir Ken video on creativity brought up several interesting ideas. He explains how collaboration is essential for us to move forward in education and in the creativity process. To be creative, you have to use your imagination to develop something of value. I think is very important that we help our students see the importance of their creativity and allow them to help use it in the virtual classroom.

The ideas in this video connect to my understandings of the Virtual Classroom because I need to use my imagination, while still creating something that is useful in the classroom. It is very easy to get carried away making things for the classroom and then forget about their actual relevance to the students and content. I need to make sure that the items on my WikiSpace are being used effectively and not just taking up unnecessary space.

I also liked the ideas Sir Ken brought up about collaboration. It is extremely helpful if you can collaborate or share ideas with others during the creativity process. Working with others can help you find that missing element to your virtual classroom and help you fix problems that may occur. They can help you change your ideas in ways that you would have never been able to think of on your own.
